Europe Region PresidentAs I slowly get accustomed to the new position God has called me to, I realized I needed to address the PWOC International members as well as those in Europe.  To give you a bit of some background on me…
I have been active in PWOC since 1991 and have been used by God in many areas of leadership from Chapter President to European Region Secretary.  I am currently active in the Brussels (Belgium) Chapter as the Bible study leader, as well as, 1st VP – Spiritual Life.  I love to teach and sing (not at the same time!). I also love to read not only the Bible, but also Christian fiction.  I love Christian music and have my computer programmed to WGTS 91.9 out of the D.C. area, which keeps me up on all the newest songs and artists.  And of course being in Europe, I love to travel!
As we started our study this year, “Beloved Disciple” by Beth Moore, we were asked to write a letter to Jesus answering this question: “What do you want?”  My answer?  “I want to wake up everyday and can’t wait to open my Bible.  I want to sing praises to You.  I want to do Your will…show me the way.  Excite me to teach Your Word.  Use me Lord.”  That was written in August…. November 2007, at our Annual Worship and Study Conference, I was selected as the President for the Europe Region.  I was and continue to be, humbled by this calling.   I guess the old saying is true; be careful what you ask for, you just might get it!
In her study Beth Moore states, “Each of us has a God-given need to matter; to make a difference.  Don’t think for one moment the enemy won’t do everything he can to convince you that your efforts in Christ’s name are in vain.  He preys on feelings of uselessness, worthlessness, poor self-image and busyness.  We want to make a difference; we want to feel God is using us.  The Father desires each of our lives to bring forth much fruit; to flourish in the ministry God has for you.”  For us that calling may be in PWOC, or it may be in your local Chapel.  Wherever it may be; “God is looking for faithfulness to fulfill whatever duty He places before you.”
For me it was to be obedient to God and “put my name in the hat” to be considered for a position on the European Regional Board.  He had a calling for me that was far beyond anything I had ever imagined or wanted.  Sometimes we are not sure what our calling is, so we hesitate, we seek (in our eyes) the easier position, or we sit idly by hoping someone else will do it; someone who is better equipped for the position.  Or sometimes we want someone to tell us what we should do, to show us the way.  Yet there are other times we think we know what our calling is only to discover we were wrong, so instead of stepping out in faith again and trusting God; at the risk of getting hurt or feeling stupid; we do nothing.  As Christ told the church of Laodicea in Revelation, don’t be lukewarm!
We must be willing to trust and serve; willing to listen to that still small voice that tugs on the heart and become leaders.  Leaders in PWOC.  Doing God’s work will make you His leaders in your families, in your churches and in your communities.  We need to prayerfully consider what God has in store for us and put our faith in Him.  Be an active member of PWOC.  “For who is greater, the one who is at the table, or the one who serves?  Is it not the one who is at the table? But I am among you as one who serves.”  Luke 22:27
Trusting in God means getting out of our comfort zone.  I know I did.  As I start my year in service to PWOC, I am keenly aware that God has put me in a position to do His work and that I must cling to the fact that He will never leave me nor forsake me.  I must continue to do what He has called me to do until the time He releases me.  How about you?  Are you ready to serve?  Are you ready to trust?  It’s time to jump into the water…He wont let you sink!

Trusting in Him,
Vickie Cox
