Message from the President

Our Triumphal Procession
By Christine Young, Europe Region President

In November as I was selected to be your new regional president and was given ten minutes to speak to you, I was asking God for His message and words to share. I just needed one verse and I needed it quickly! I believe James 1:5 that says, “If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.”

God showed up. You knew He would right? His verse for me to share was 2 Cor 2:14,15 -

“But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of him. For we are to God the aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.”

I must say that this is a new verse for me. Oh I’m sure I’ve read it at some point before but I’ve never really “seen” it until now. God leads us in triumphal procession in Christ. That’s huge! When I think of a procession I think of a large group of people marching forward. If you’ve ever been in a marching band, you can really relate to what I’m saying. I speak from personal experience after having been in a band that was state champions three times in Michigan.

There is a lot to staying together and marching on time and in sync. The difficulty increases as more people join the procession. It’s amazing when it all happens right. In the ministry of PWOC, we are called to march in step and in formation. God is orchestrating our formations and our steps and as we listen and follow Him we can be the fragrance and aroma of Christ. His gift of the Holy Spirit speaks to each of us and allows us to walk together in unity with one another.

I think of God as the ‘director’ of the band and the President as the ‘conductor’ and the section leaders (each instrument has a section leader) as the board members. We all have someone to follow; listen to; communicate with and submit to. The band director comes up with the formations on the field, he chooses the music and every detail. God does that same thing. He’s in charge of each step and He’ll tell us what to do and where to go, if we’re willing to ask Him and then respond.

When we are not in step or formation and we are focused on ourselves, I’m certain the aroma is not of God. When we operate alone and have no concern for where the others are on the field, we stand alone and are often times very unfulfilled and unhappy. That is not God’s plan for you.

We have 33 chapters in Europe and we’re spread out by thousands of miles in some cases, but yet God leads us all in triumphal procession in Christ. We have 41 Presidents (counting our 8 areas), over 400 board members and well over 1000 women in PWOC Europe and yet He leads us all in triumphal procession together. Our God is amazing!

If you feel like you’re the sister who has been on the outside of the formation; or hasn’t been able to keep in tempo or stay in step; or you’ve been sitting on the bleachers like a spectator; recognize that you have a place on the field and in the triumphal procession. I encourage you to get involved and to build relationships with your sisters in Christ in your local chapter. God has a place for you in the body of Christ and no one else can fill that place like you can. It is YOUR place in the body of believers and we all need each other. You bring something unique to the body that your chapter would be missing if you’re not there and in return your sisters can help you grow closer to Christ and to them.

The Lord Extends His Scepter – receive it today.

Many Blessings in Christ Jesus,
Chris

Regional Leadership Selection

Greetings in Jesus' precious name!

A new PWOC year is upon us and we all eagerly look to God for His leading this year to lead, teach, develop and involve ladies to shine in the light of His glory personally and in their communities.

I am writing to announce that PWOCI Europe will be taking considerations for Vice President/Conference Coordinator (Worship and Study). This year the Vice President will be the Worship and Study Coordinator aligning us with our stateside regions.

The details of this position are fully described in the Women’s Ministry Manual at pwoc.org and differ for OCONUS (outside the US) in that it is for one year, not two. Is God calling you? Is this your season to step up and use the gifts and abilities that God has given you? Sometimes I feel inadequate as I serve our Jesus. The Bible speaks about this in 2 Corinthians 3:5. Hear these powerful words… “Not that we are adequate in ourselves to consider anything as coming from ourselves, but our adequacy is from God.”

Please ask our Lord where He wants you and may God be your adequacy as you step forward in faith to serve Him in PWOC. You can email your completed consideration forms to me on the website, by submitting them to EuropeLeadership@pwoc.org.

For His Glory,
Leslie Jarrow, Europe Leadership Selection Team Chair
