GOODFELLOW PROJECT NIGHTS At Goodfellow AFB we serve a wide range of interests and ages (from new students – retirees). Project Nights were born when some mentioned a scrapbook night, some mentioned needing fellowship, and others mentioned a craft or quilting night. Every 2nd Friday night of the month you’ll find the Fellowship Hall doors open from 5:00 – midnight. Everyone brings the project of their choice and their personal supplies. We provide designated time, a dinner entrée, a place to work, and lots of old-fashioned fun. Recent Friday nights we’ve seen a student learning how to sew, a new mom making a quilt, a homeschool mom making lesson plans, several working on photo albums, a homeschooler working on a portfolio, a retiree making a pillow, a student cross-stitching, a mom cutting out flower girl and bridesmaid dresses, someone stamping a card, someone else cutting out new curtains, someone STILL trying to get a Christmas letter together, and another student working on Bible Study. We encourage our students to come and visit or help another on a project even if they don’t have a personal project to tackle. These evenings take very little planning and yet have become a highlight of many of our member’s month. What a joy it has been as we get to know each other and share our lives’ stories – across generational lines. |
