Greetings Sisters of the West Region,
It is my great pleasure and honor to serve as your West Region President for the next two years. I am looking forward with great expectation to what God is going to be doing through the women of the W
est Region. When I addressed the women at the Fall Focus Conference I spoke about you all being the ones that God had birthed in my heart as He was preparing me for this day. I truly believe this. I have been traveling a road that has led me to this season of my life and I am excited to see what God is going to do.
As I began to move forward God impressed upon my heart to share with each of you that God is calling us to a time of deep prayer. As we look around our military communities and our world overall we can see that there are many hurting people. Military families are stressed because of deployments and re-deployments. People have lost their homes and their jobs. It is an opportunity for us to stand with people in these situations by standing on the word of God.
As I looked at 2 Chronicles 7:14 I was reminded that many people quote this verse but it was going back to the
13verse that really put this entire passage into a new light for me. 13 “When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, 14if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
I was reminded that hard times will come, but it is what we do in these times that make the difference. My response to the tragedies and hardships of life should be pray. My response to the blessings of life should be to pray. My response in all situations should be one of prayer. That is what I believe God is calling us to as a body of women is to lift up to the heavens His people and it is in the midst of this time of prayer that we can build our relationship with God and with one another.
My desire in the coming months is to be able to come and visit each installation and spend time sharing with you what God has placed on my heart.
Also, I want to hear about your ministry needs. My heart’s desire is to pray for you and partner with you as “Workers Together for Christ."
Finally, I would like to wish each of you a Blessed New Year. May we all experience God’s grace, mercy and love overflowing in the coming year.
Blessings,
Leona D. Tatum
